The district in Champagne Ardennes that is allowed to produce labeled Champagne wines is changing. Some 40 more villages are included in the Appellation d’Origine Controlee (AOC) and some villages are losing their right to produce Champagne and also other sorts of wine.

I don’t know much about those added and removed villages and their quality of wine but I guess it’s inevitable to revise the definition from time to time if they want to keep up the quality. Producer’s changes and so do the soil and environment. Based on that, I like.
Guess that they also are interested to add more villages to keep up with the competition of other high quality sparkling wine from around the world. That might lower the quality though.
