New feature: Inline YouTube movies

Toby and I played around with YouTube URL parsing yesterday and have released an experimental feature here on like/diss. It turns URL’s to YouTube movie clip pages into embed video directly in your comments.

It should work for YouTube movie URL’s posted here in the past as well. Check it out on this post e.g.:

Same requirements for a Flash plug-in and network capabilities apply as when you watch clips directly on the YouTube site.

If you don’t have a Flash player plug-in, you get a link to the page as before. But well, you will not be able to watch movies over at YouTube without the plug-in either.

If you experience problems, use the Support link in the page footer and report it to us.

Have fun!

and I appreciate that it isn’t on auto-play.

@Bjebeje Right, autoplay isn’t any fun, especially not on a page with more than one video.

A note to Internet Explorer users, you need to click on the video once to “activate” it and then one more to start playing it. That’s the regular IE plug-in behavior—some kind of security thing I’ve heard—so you don’t activate inline media by accident, or similar.
