First beta of IE8 seems to be far from a release version. It renders very slow. They re-implemented the rendering engine to be fully standards based, so far many sites I’ve tested breaks, including like/diss. Gmail and GDocs are not accessible at all.
Not fully IE8’s fault, many sites are implemented to support all quirks in IE6 and IE7 so they will not work properly in a standards based IE engine.
A plus is the IE7 simulation mode you can run it in. Good for testing and good to have for the user if your favorite sites break in the IE8 rendering mode.

I was disappointed with the developer tool plug-in, rumors have said that it was very close to Firebug, but it looks more like developer tools for IE7. Be sure to uninstall the old one on a system level (Windows uninstall) before you upgrade.
