Traditional grape for white Burgundy (Bourgogne). Often oak aged (sometimes too much).
Typically buttery aroma, often also with a tint of green apples, peaches and almonds. One of the white grape varieties that has spread the most over the world, particularly to warm countries.

In cooler climate it produces lighter wines.
